According to the information, Huawei will release HarmonyOS 4 at Huawei Developer Conference (HDC) 2023 on August 4, 2023. The company will hold this event at the company’s headquarter in China.
There are various activities announced for the event including keynotes, codelabs, and live discussions on different topics. However, HarmonyOS 4 will dominate the interest of all of the attendees.
HarmonyOS 3 was initially announced at HDC 2021. After that, it began the developer beta journey, which took at about 6 months. Then the software made it up to the smartphones. In July 2022, Huawei held a separate event to announce HarmonyOS 3 for smartphones and other smart devices.
Thereafter, Huawei began the smartphone version of the beta program for HMOS 3. Subsequently, the Huawei Mate 50 series launched in October in China with a pre-loaded operating system. This device is the first to run EMUI 13 in the global market, which shares all of the features of HMOS 3.
Huawei announced HDC 2022 after Mate 50 series on November 4, 2022. This event had nothing to do with HMOS 3, instead, the company introduced HarmonyOS 3.1 and talked about the future release of HarmonyOS 4.
Earlier this year, HarmonyOS 3.1 was unveiled with the Huawei P60 series. Meanwhile, it had EMUI 13.1 for global models.
This year, everything is running on time, and the company doesn’t have to change its schedule. Because everything is happening appropriately.
For example, HarmonyOS 4 will unveil on August 4, and it will give enough time for beta tests until October, which may be the launch date of the Huawei Mate 60 Series. On the flip side, EMUI 14 will first come with the Huawei Mate 60 series for global consumers but we can’t confirm its availability.
HarmonyOS 4 and EMUI 14 are likely to be identical and packed with new surprises but we’ll have to wait for more information on some specific details.
