EMUI 13 will rollout soon for eligible devices and the users are prepared to install this new gen software update. However, the delay in EMUI 13 might have a meaning, which we’ll try to find.

For that, we need to look at past releases, Huawei EMUI 12 was unveiled by the end of 2021. The company started testing this EMUI version in December. Followed by a large-scale release in the first quarter of 2022. This rollout included almost all devices in the current generation of the HMS ecosystem.

However, that is not the case with the latest EMUI. Because released all of the EMUI 13 features on the website in October last year.

Since then, the company remained in abstain mode for the rollout. After 6 months of the announcement, Huawei finally began EMUI 13 beta but this time it’s only limited to some markets. Meanwhile, the tech maker not revealed any details about the roadmap.

Last month, during the Huawei P60 series launch in the Asia Pacific region, Huawei shared the EMUI 13 upgrade plan. Yes, it’s a bit late.

Reason?

There are two devices and 1 software update, which may be at the center of this EMUI 13 rollout delay story.

Let’s start with Huawei Mate 50 Pro, the phone was announced in October in China. Then, it was scheduled for November for global customers. It was the first and only (then) to bring EMUI 13 pre-installed. Huawei also promoted EMUI 13 as one of the key selling points for the flagship.

However, the company then may have waited a little longer to release this update for old models.

Next comes Huawei P60 Pro, the phone landed in March in the home ground. And its global launch happened last month. The company packed this phone with EMUI 13.1, exclusive software for this new P-series smartphone along with Mate X3. However, the company is also promoting EMUI 13.1 as a key feature of the P60 Pro.

Situation explained:

As usual, the software and smartphone hardware design planning starts way ahead of the release date. Therefore, Huawei’s plans for the new EMUI 13 rollout for old phones also changed with phone releases.

With the release of new handsets, Huawei continues to amend plans for EMUI 13 rollout. Therefore, it may have come down to this that, EMUI 13.1 features are likely to reflect in EMUI 13.0.

However, we’ll have to wait to verify these assessments with the EMUI 13 OTA rollout.
