WhatsApp will launch new voice chat feature, different from voice calling
WhatsApp will launch a new voice chat feature for its users and it will bring a more easy way to interact in groups as compared to voice calls. Findings from Wabetainfo reveal that WhatsApp beta version 2.23.16.19 is underway in testing for Android with this new function.
It will allow anyone in the group to join an ongoing audio chat. Once started, a status bar on the below group name will show the ongoing voice chat window. There is information about the number of participants and a button to connect a new user.
The voice chat will be ended automatically in 60 minutes in the absence of any participants. However, anyone can start a new chat at any time. The beta version has a maximum of 32 voice chat participants limit. But this may vary in the future version or based on the chat settings.
What’s the difference between voice calling?
Well, the new voice chat works discretely and keeps it limited to WhatsApp. For example, the phone will show a notification alert instead of a ringtone when someone starts a voice chat. Also, these chats are end-to-end encrypted, so you can expect privacy in all of your voice conversations within the group.
Currently, this feature is in the reach of some WhatsApp beta testers. However, a public version may arrive with a stable release.
