Apple has brought in one of the battery percentage features with the recent iOS 16 beta software rollout for iPhones. The company chopped this feature in previous generations of iPhones due to concerns about notch space.

For a long time, Android phones are being shipped with an important feature called – battery percentage. Although, it is a tiny feature but it helps you to find your phone’s current battery level in an instant. Huawei phones including both EMUI and HarmonyOS also comes with battery percentage access.

iOS too had this feature, including a battery percentage icon on the left side of the battery levels bar. However, with the arrival of the iPhone X series, Apple removed the battery percentage feature, due to concerns over the new notch, which was wide and used for face ID.

The concern may relate to the already  ‘reduced’ space that it could occupy in the status bar, along with the network and WiFi indicator icons.

After that, iPhones only showed the battery level bar and there are no specific numbers on the status bar allowed until iOS 15. Meanwhile, an exact battery percentage could only be known, once you slide down the control center. Or the phone will let you know the battery percentage once you connect your phone with a charger.

However, with the arrival of the iOS 16 beta 5, Apple has re-introduced this feature with a new style that has already been adopted by many Android phones so far. The iPhone maker has enabled the battery percentage feature inside the battery instead of showing it on the left side.

Although, iOS has enabled this feature for iPhones but it may not still be available for small screen devices with notch such as iPhone 13 mini and others.
