Once pleaded for Dark Mode, Honor Play now prepares for HarmonyOS operating system

Honor Play is one of the most popular devices from Honor’s early day and the first one in the Honor lineup. Honor Play doesn’t disappoint its consumers, and it’s powered by Kirin 970 processor, the same chipset was used in Honor 10 and Honor P20 but the Honor Play still runs EMUI 9.1 and the other two successfully installed EMUI 10.0.

When the consumer asked Honor regarding this matter, the company replied that Honor Play lacks the hardware capability to run the latest EMUI version, which is absolutely absurd to read and hear.

In terms of other specs, the Honor Play sports a 6.3-inch display featuring 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. These are better than the Honor 8X, which got EMUI 10.0 upgrade followed the launch.

Petitions:

In the aftermath of these denials, Honor Play users went on the internet to loud out their voices on the company ears and signed thousand of petitions on change.org. However, this didn’t make a change.

Plea for Dark Mode:

EMUI 10.0 is the first EMUI version that comes with a dedicated dark mode user interface. Honor Play users were so excited that this functionality will soon be added to their phones but it didn’t happen.

Eventually, after being denied for the EMUI 10.0, a major group of Honor Play users questioned us as well as the company that the company should rollout at least the dark mode for the model but it seems difficult as a standalone dark mode feature rollout because it’s related to that corresponding Android version.

HarmonyOS 2.0:

With the launch of the HarmonyOS 2.0 operating system, Huawei announced a huge list of upgradable models, this also includes the Honor Play. Yes, the users were shocked to see this phone on the list and have continuously been asking for a rollout date.

As recently, Huawei has officially confirmed that the Honor Play will begin its HarmonyOS 2.0 journey by early October. Under the rollout process, the Honor Play will be signed up for the closed beta and then it’ll move to the stable release.
