Huawei Pocket 2 is likely to offer significant camera upgrades over its predecessors and a new addition to this phone could be a hyperspectral lens. Eventually, the company could adopt an efficient optical element over the usual telephoto lens.

So far, the Pocket 2 foldable has been a mystery regarding the camera. A few leaks suggested that the flip-flop model could bring an upgraded primary shooter. Yet, optical parameters and details for the other two lenses still reside beneath the ground.

However, tipster @BeijingDigitalMaster says that Huawei may switch the telephoto lens with a dynamic Hyperspectral camera for the Pocket 2 foldable smartphone. In addition, he expects to see more meaningful upgrades to the device at the unveiling.

What is a Hyperspectral Camera?

The ultimate imaging system provides more precise color and material recognition. It further delivers detailed inputs regarding every pixel and excels in conventional imaging capabilities such as an advanced color camera.

Notably, Hyperspectral imaging is a perfect fusion of digital imaging and spectroscopy. It is useful to detect minute properties of a material and provides more details than any ordinary color camera. Besides, the lens supports multiple bands in the spectrum. Simply, it brings clearer, detailed, and crisp shots.

It is unclear whether the company is just testing the respective tech for its new foldable or will adopt it in real. For confirmation, we need to hold our patience till the official launch of the Huawei Pocket 2 handset.

Huawei’s Camera Solutions:

The Chinese tech giant is experimenting with several new optical lenses for its upcoming flagship devices. The list counts the IMX 989 sensor, the OV50K and OV50H image lens, the hybrid lens, and more. Many of these are hearsay to show up with the approaching P70 series.

Perhaps, hyperspectral imaging won’t be an exception to this theory. Moreover, we may find more appealing changes in the Pocket 2 folding phone over the previous-gen model.

Huawei Pocket S: Camera

The predecessor landed on the consumer platform with a dual-rear camera system. It has a 40MP main true-chroma lens with f/1.8 aperture and a 13MP ultra-wide angle shooter (f/2.2 aperture). The front side has a 10.7MP selfie snapper (f/2.2 aperture).
