Kirin PC chip rumored to be in the pipeline for a long time and looks like Huawei is ready to launch it with some new Qingyun notebooks. A leak says that the computer-dedicated processor is on the way and may soon show up on the stage.

Weibo tipster @FixedFocus cites that if all goes well then Huawei could launch the self-developed Kirin PC chip in May or June this year with Qingyun Notebook series.

Inputs reveal that the company may initially release the Kirin PC chip notebooks for enterprise customers. Although general users could look forward to the new computer-dedicated processor launch for MateBook in the second half of this year.

Some early revelations mentioned that Huawei has a bunch of products to release this month including wearables, smartphones, and notebooks. But the list of expected devices doesn’t count any Qingyun model for the time being.

Thus we can expect the Kirin PC chip to debut on the consumer platform next month. It is uncertain how far the leak is accurate as Huawei has not confirmed the news yet.

Kirin PC Chip:

A recent rumor pointed out that the Kirin PC could use the Taishan V130 core architecture and may be equivalent to the Apple M3 in terms of performance. The company might also introduce chip variants like Pro and Max versions of Apple M3.

Previous leaks suggested the following CPU architecture for the Kirin PC:

  • 4 x Taishan large cores
  • 4 x Taishan mid-cores
  • 2 x large cores of NPU (Ascend Lite)
  • 2 x micro cores of NPU (Ascend Mini)

The respective processor could pair up with the Maleoon 910 GPU, 32GB RAM, and 2TB SSD, 2 or 3 x USB 4.0 storage. Note that the GPU is said to deliver Apple M2-like performance with efficient visual renderings. It would be worth seeing what enhancements the Kirin PC chip will bring on board in the upcoming weeks.
