Huawei’s HiSilicon launched Hi373V110 TV chip based on RISC V architecture

Huawei semiconductor subsidiary – HiSilicon has officially debuted the high definition TV chip Hi373V110 that uses Huawei’s fully owned RISC V architecture CPU. This new TV chip supports Huawei’s self-developed LiteOS and fast startup.

As per the official information, the Huawei HiSilicon Hi373V110 chip supports analog TV (ATV) main processing chips of various standards around the world, NTSC/PAL/SECAM standard demodulation, USB playback, and mainstream video formats including MPGE2, H.264, H.265, RMVB, etc.

In addition to this, it supports mainstream audio decoding, sound processing, HiSilicon’s self-developed SWS sound processing. Also, it comes with CVBS/YPbPr/VGA/HDMI 1.4 input, built-in memory, support LVDS, and miniLVDS interfaces as well as a mainstream Tconless screen. Back in May 2021, Huawei has launched the first Hi3861 development. Although Huawei HiSilicon did not specifically disclose the architecture of the main chip used in this development board, it can be seen from the introduction of its development environment that Huawei’s Hi3861 should be a RISC-V development board.

The RISC-V instruction set is an open instruction set architecture (ISA) based on the principle of reduced instruction set computing (RISC). It has a short and compact architecture, a small number of instructions, and adopts modular design ideas and extended instructions.

Huawei’s HiSilicon Hi3861 is mainly designed IoT devices. Up until now, the Chinese chip design was tailored to design chips for high-end smartphones, tablets, PCs, and other smart devices.
