TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo wrote if Huawei loses market share in the global smartphone market, Samsung might be the primary beneficiary followed by Apple, reported CNBC.

In mid-May, the US added Huawei and its affiliate in a business blacklist. Later on, firms including Google, Intel, Qualcomm, Xilinx, Broadcom, ARM and more loosen their ties with Huawei.

“We think the most important impact would be losing brand trust if Huawei couldn’t offer stable shipments due to the U.S. export ban,” Kuo wrote in the note.

“Huawei’s smartphone shipments could decline by eight to 10 million a month if it cannot replace key Google software,” he estimates.

Last year, Huawei shipped more than 200 million smartphone units and aims to go after Samsung Electronics for the top spot but a recent event has made the company postponed this goal.

Kuo said by referencing Huawei’s public statements, it is developing its own operating system which might be compatible with Android apps.

Moreover, if Huawei is removed from the blacklist, it will continue to increasingly buy more parts from Chinese companies, added Kuo.
