Huawei P70 series camera specifications leaked including a 1-inch large sensor

Huawei P70 series is the next P-series flagship and industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo today shares the camera specifications for this smartphone lineup.

Kuo said the standard Huawei P70 uses a 5p lens (1/3.6-inch), while the Huawei P70 Pro and P70 Pro use a 6p lens (1/2.5-inch) image sensor size for the telephoto camera.

Interestingly, the Huawei P70 Art will equip a super large 1-inch CIS main camera with a hybrid 1G6P lens. This will be the biggest upgrade so far in the Huawei P-series smartphones. This sensor is capable of providing better image quality, especially in low-light conditions.

Furthermore, Huawei will customize this main camera module based on the requirements of the new smartphone with its suppliers.

Kuo also revealed that Sunny Opticals and Largan will be the key suppliers of optical lenses for the Huawei P70 series. Among these, Largan will dominate the supply shares.

According to the current plans, the Huawei P70 series could be unveiled somewhere in the first half of next year. Traditionally, Huawei releases new P-series devices around March or April. Earlier this year, Huawei achieved stability in its smartphone launch schedules. So, the Chinese tech company could unveil the devices based on a traditional schedule.

It’s predicted that the Huawei P70 series will see significant shipment growth in 2024 as compared to the P60. The new growth will be driven by these upgraded camera specifications and the return of the Kirin 5G chipset.

Kuo said if Huawei continues to gain momentum in the market, the Huawei P70 series could see a robust year-on-year growth of 230%, shipping about 13-15 million units.

Even with some supply chain and restocking issues, the analyst believes that P70 devices could make it up to 150% YoY with 10-12 million units after release.

Industry-Wide Growth

This growth will not be limited to Huawei, but it will also increase the market share of both of these lens suppliers.

With this camera specifications leak, we could assume that Huawei could bring some new surprises with the Huawei P70 series with more focus on mobile camera photography.
