Huawei P30 and Mate 20 Series goes for one more major upgrade in China
Huawei today announced HarmonyOS 4 closed beta recruitment for the Huawei P30 and Mate 20 series devices, thus sending one more major software upgrade for these old flagship phones.
Huawei P30 and Mate 20 series were launched in 2019 and 2018 respectively. These devices have completed 4-5 generation of major software releases.
These two phones also saw a software transition from EMUI (Android) to Huawei’s own HarmonyOS operating system. But running the latest HarmonyOS 4 would send a brand new experience to the users.
HarmonyOS 4 equips new personalization features including customizations for lock screen and themes. Small AI capabilities will help you choose a better look for the smartphone.
Animations are now improved more than ever, and HarmonyOS 4 provides smooth transitions. The app opening and closing actions are also optimized for fast interactions.
Live Window is another interaction addition that Huawei added. The feature lets you know about an ongoing activity on your smartphone, allowing you to view the live status without opening an app. The tech maker has also cleaned the status bar to show only important status bar icons.
Huawei said that the integration of its Ark engine technology has brought 20% more smoothness, 30% more power saving, and 57% faster performance.

Huawei P30 and Mate 20 series devices are required to install a base version 3.0.0.168 to apply for this new HarmonyOS 4 beta test. There are other old models selected for this software release. For now, the company has announced 2000 testing slots for each model.
The rollout of HarmonyOS 4 for these two flagship devices will start within a few weeks after a review of the recruitment applications.
Before you register your beta interest, make sure your device has 8GB of internal storage to store the beta update package. Your device must not be rooted. Before installation, make sure to backup important files and data in order to ensure a safe upgrade procedure.
