Huawei P20 Pro and Mate 20 Pro now support Netflix HD and HDR content and Widevine L1

Huawei P20 Pro and Mate 20 Pro comes with support for HDR and Full HD, but both were not able to stream HD videos from online streaming services as both the phones lacked support for Widevine L1 certification.

Huawei is now adding support for Google’s Widevine DRM to the P20 Pro and the Mate 20 Pro, which allows the devices to play HD and HDR content on Netflix.

Before the implementation of Widevine users could only watch content in a maximum of 540p since it only had Widevine L3. Now the phones have the latest version of Widevine, which is Widevine L1.

The new update for the smartphones also brings gesture-based navigation which is very useful in a full-screen smartphone; second-generation GPU Turbo technology that boosts the phone’s performance; and redesigned settings menu among other things.

The latest software update for the P20 Pro and Mate 20 Pro is EMUI 9,0 which is based on Android 9 Pie OS.
