Consequently, we get the proof of this statement in the recent Counterpoint report that shows Huawei surpassing Xiaomi in the folding phone market.

The research agency – Counterpoint made a report on the folding smartphone market share from January to May. Further, this report includes several tech makers. For instance, Huawei, Samsung, Honor, OPPO, Vivo, and Xiaomi.

According to new research, Huawei has excelled in the folding phone market, while Xiaomi came to the ground level. Moreover, this information also defines the upcoming future of other smartphone manufacturers.

The report reveals that the selling volume of the China folding smartphone models is 670,000 units in the first quarter. This is a high increase of 391% in the yearly progress. Meanwhile, it shows a month-on-month increment of 152 percent.

By seeing the progress at this moment, we can assume that the foldable smartphone bargain will hit an increase of 225 percent by the end of this year. With an expected sale of 2.7 million units, the folding gadget will be able to maintain the growth momentum in the respective region.

Revealing the statistics, every company has tried to level up its progress in foldable technology. Starting with Huawei, the Chinese firm gained 50% of China’s folding smartphone sales. Thereafter comes Samsung with 20% followed by Oppo at the third position.

However, a shock arrives from Xiaomi which scored the fourth rank. Companies like Vivo and Oppo were also capable of maintaining their pace in the market with a 10.3 market share. Though they have lately entered the foldable world.

Coming back to the report, seeing a good leap in the foldable smartphone sector, there are high chances to see 4-5 more new models in the second half of 2022. In fact, after gaining 77 percent of success with horizontal folding devices, the companies would try experiments with vertical layouts. Ultimately, this could result in accelerating the vertical folding smartphone sale by 50 percent.
