You should know that the public beta upgrade will not erase user data. However, it is still recommended to back up all important files to a PC or cloud before upgrading. You can also confirm the backup content after the backup.

Here’s how to participate in the public HarmonyOS 3 beta activity.

Open up My Huawei app and follow the instructions below. Before that, make sure your phone has the latest My Huawei app version. You can verify that via AppGallery.

Huawei P30 series March 2023 update

Huawei P30 series is testing HarmonyOS 3 in China and the phone lineup is now receiving the March 2023 beta update to improve the test user experience.

According to the information, Huawei is sending this new firmware for the Huawei P30 series with March 2023 system optimization update. These models are receiving the new firmware push.

  • P30 (ELE-AL00)
  • P30 (ELE-TL00)
  • P30 Pro (VOG-AL00)
  • P30 Pro (VOG-AL10)
  • P30 Pro (VOG-TL00)

These Huawei P30 devices are getting HarmonyOS 3 beta version 3.0.0.123 with a firmware size of 145 megabytes and it is rolling out in batches.

Huawei P30 series March 2023 update

Huawei P30 series started its HarmonyOS 3 journey in December last year. It is still surprising for us that the company is still sending new software upgrades for the golden flagship.

After HarmonyOS 3, Huawei P30 and P30 Pro smartphones have been reinvented with new user interfaces, better features, and user experience. The key essential benefits of the new HarmonyOS version over its predecessor are big.

On the other hand, the company will conclude this beta test for smartphones and roll out a stable HarmonyOS 3 software update. Meanwhile in the global market, only Huawei P30 and P30 Pro are running EMUI 12, which kind of equivalent to HarmonyOS 2. But we could expect a better update this year with EMUI 13 if it appears.

Precautions:

This latest software update for the Huawei P30 series comes only after HarmonyOS 3.0.0.121. Therefore, it’s required for the beta testers to upgrade first to this version. You have the option to enable the customer user experience improvement program to provide feedback and help developers to improve the HarmonyOS 3 operating system.

Although, the update won’t erase your personal data but it’s suggested that you back any important files ahead of the installation. Since it’s a beta build, HarmonyOS 3 comes with various bugs and software compatibility. Hence, you should upgrade all of your system apps to the latest version via AppGallery.

Following the upgrade to the latest software version, your phone may generate heat, lag, and slow charging. This is caused by self-optimizations and adaptation actions, which will settle down within a few days of the rollout.

New Huawei flagship will bring HarmonyOS 3.1

HarmonyOS 3.1

Huawei is gearing up for a massive flagship launch event on March 23, other than smartphones, the Chinese tech maker will launch new HarmonyOS 3.1 software.

According to the information, the flagship Huawei P60 series and Mate X3 foldable will pack HarmonyOS 3.1 operating system out of the box. That’s not it, the MatePad 11 2023 tablet will also bring it onboard.

This is good news and the new software will provide new features for a better new user experience.

The tipster also suggests that the Huawei Enjoy 60 series will use HarmonyOS 3.0. This is due to the platform limitation of the Kirin 710A chipset. Still, we don’t have an official stamp on this matter but more information is awaited.

HarmonyOS 3.1 Flagship

HarmonyOS 3.1:

At Huawei Developer Conference 2022 (HDC 22), Huawei announced HarmonyOS 3.1 developer beta. Last month, Huawei opened the HarmonyOS 3.1 dev beta for physical devices and the first eligible smartphones launched with this beta campaign include Huawei P50 and P50 Pro.

Other than that, Huawei already tested HarmonyOS 3.1 developer beta on the Huawei Mate 50 series. Unfortunately, all of this activity is happening only for the Chinese models. Meanwhile, global users are still waiting for a miracle to somehow access EMUI 13.

HarmonyOS 3.1 brings fluid and seamless animations

The developer beta doesn’t seem to have many graphical changes. Instead, it’s a major fix and performance improvement for Huawei devices. Yet some optimizations are clearly visible such as smoothed animations and fast on-screen operations.

As for now, Huawei has not announced the roadmap for this new HarmonyOS version but March 23 could bring it on stage. On the flip side, the official development roadmap of HarmonyOS 3.1 shows that Huawei will roll it out in April.

So, Huawei P60 and Mate X3 will give a grand debut to the HarmonyOS 3.1. Then the software will make its way to the old models in the following month.

That sums up the story, however, we’ll keep you posted with more development in this story.
