This year is packed with new Huawei smartphones and the countdown to the next flagship, the Huawei Mate 60 series has already begun because a new input calls for its launch in the third quarter of 2023.

According to a Weibo tipster, the Huawei Mate 60 series will launch in the third quarter. However, there’s no specific date revealed but we could expect it around September or October.

Last year, Huawei unveiled Mate 50 series in October and marketed the phone for the rest of the months. This way, Huawei may also hold another conference to launch a flip phone by the end of this year.

Chipset:

Huawei Mate 60 series engineering models are currently being tested with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 chip. Therefore, we are expecting some new numbers in performance as the company optimizes this flagship for better performance.

Information reveals that Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 4G has 1+4+3 octa-core architecture. This consists of a big Kryo Prime core (based on Cortex-X3) running at 3.2GHz to provide high single-thread performance.

This chipset has four performance cores run at 2.8GHz for the multi-threaded benchmarks. There are three efficiency cores clocked at 2.0GHz.

Looking at the power efficiency, the 8 Gen 2 can provide up to a 40% increase in CPU energy efficiency and a 45% reduction in Adreno GPU power consumption. Still, the current test version of the Huawei Mate 60 series is using a 4G baseband but there’s more to come on the final device.

Camera:

The tipster also revealed Huawei Mate 60 series would come with new camera technologies including the super sensitive camera tech introduced last year with the Huawei Mate 50 series.

Furthermore, the Huawei Mate 60 series is likely to adopt a bright light RYYB color array from the Huawei P60 series. The new Periscope camera is also making headlines for new camera features. Currently, Huawei has not shared the details of this Huawei Mate 60 device. However, we are expecting some new improvements over the predecessor.
