Huawei is rolling out a new HarmonyOS 4.0.0.126 software update for the Huawei Mate 60 Pro, which brings a new AI Cloud Image Enhancement feature and other important enhancements to the system.

This is a surprise for many of the Huawei Mate 60 Pro users for its unique capability. Most of the image processing inside the phone happens after you click the shutter button. You can also enhance these images through third-party software.

However, the quality of the photos basically depends on the camera pixel quality. This affects the image output based on the camera pixels as well as the color array.

The new AI cloud image enhancement feature has been added to the gallery app in Huawei Mate 60 Pro. Users can access it on the image preview screen from the top option menu. The phone will utilize AI power to analyze the image and upload it to the cloud. The cloud will optimize it for improvements to add clarity and provide color correction.

This is a niche and innovative feature for users who want to try something new. Currently, we’ve not seen the comparison in before and after image processing. To be mentioned, the feature only works on portrait photographs and rolling for the Pro model.

Earlier this month, Google launched a new feature called “Video Boost”, which works with a similar mechanism. Google has announced this feature is only available for the Pro model. In the background, it uses Google’s image processing technology to process your video on the cloud, once uploaded.

Google says this function will enhance color, light, stabilization, and graininess in the video. However, all of the Pixel 8 Pro users will have to wait until later this year for its rollout.

Although, Huawei’s version is only for image processing but it’s somewhat faster than what Google may be planning to do for its own devices. Other than that, the update also installs new network improvements and provides system stability for a better user experience.
