Huawei Mate 20 series receiving new additions, optimizations, fixes and security improvement with latest software update

Huawei Mate 20 series has been always at the top of the line to receive new features and security updates that improve devices’ to the best of their hardware capabilities.

Recently, Huawei has updated the EMUI 11 update rollout for global users, which brings a number of new features for this lineup. However, it’s also observed that Huawei has also slowed down the security patch rollout process for the Huawei Mate 20 device owners.

But this is not the matter at the moment because Huawei Mate 20 users also have their eyes set on the HarmonyOS testing. On the other hand, Huawei has not confirmed any testing slots for the Huawei Mate 20 series at moment but the device surely deserves a shot at this operating system.

And that’s not it, because Huawei has just released a new software update for the Huawei Mate 20 series devices. And the changelog for this update sounds quite big for the users and could soon reach the global users in a silent mode.

So what’s new this OTA update really brings for the Huawei Mate 20 models? Well, the update package contains a brand new home screen and a new popular recommendation folder to recommend your popular apps.

The update also installs Link Now and Education Center apps for Chinese consumers.

Are we stopping? NO!

The firmware also brings optimizations for calling, sound effects, and apps in certain situations to improve user experience. Furthermore, the update applies fixes for the problem in the WeChat app with a certain feature of sharing (Chinese users).

Lastly, Huawei improved the Mate 20 series’ system security with security patches released in March 2021, which fixes 2 critical, 13 high, and 132 medium levels of CVEs for improved system security.

To be noted, the update is currently rolling out for the Huawei Mate 20 model in China and may expand for global users in the coming weeks.

Software version detail:

Huawei Mate 20 series currently runs EMUI 11 and the latest software update for these devices comes with EMUI 11 version 11.0.0.139 for Mate 20, Mate 20 X, and Mate 20 RS Porsche Design. On the other hand, Huawei Mate 20 Pro getting this upgrade with EMUI 11 version 11.0.0.139/140 moving from EMUI 11.0.0.130.

How to update Huawei Mate 20 series:

There are two ways that you can download this latest software update, both of these areas the following:

VIA SETTINGS:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap on System & updates
  3. Tap Software update
  4. Tap Check for Updates
  5. Download and Install
  6. Install

After the installation and restart, we recommend you let the system optimize the new application so your device can run smoothly on further commands.

VIA SUPPORT:

You can also request this update via the Support app with the following instructions.

  1. Open the Support app
  2. Go to the Services tab
