Huawei is now rolling out a new EMUI 9-based software update for the Mate 20 Pro, which includes several improvements to Face Unlock and other features on the phone.

As per the change-log, the update improves the speed of the fingerprint scanner and the performance of the 3D Face Unlock in different scenarios.

Apart from these two improvements, Huawei has also improved the location accuracy and navigation performance on Google Maps. The update also installs the November Android Security patch on the phone. Finally, a bug related to Google Messenger not showing notifications, has been fixed.

Huawei P20 and P20 Pro users now getting EMUI 9.0 update

The new EMUI 9.0 build for the Mate 20 Pro carries the version number LYE-L29 9.0.0.146 (C432).The update weighs about 552MB in size and is available as an over-the-air update. It is being rolled out in stages, which means that it could take a while for all users to receive the update.

If you haven’t received the update yet, you can check for it manually. Simply launch the Settings app and then head over to System > System Update. We recommend that you download the update over Wi-Fi and keep your phone fully charged while installing it.
