Huawei HiSilicon ranks second in the Global cellular IoT Chipset market

Counterpoint has released the second quarter 2021 global cellular IoT chipset share report. This report reveals that the Huawei HiSilicon chip designing firm ranked second place on the list.

According to the data shared by the market tracker, Huawei HiSilicon is the second-largest cellular IoT chipset maker and it’s still gaining more footprints into the IoT segment. Meanwhile, the NB-IoT is contributing over 90 percent of HiSilicon’s shipments.

Aside from Huawei HiSilicon, Qualcomm is leading the Global Cellular IoT chipset market on the top place and its shipments are growing rapidly among IoT device makers.

The third place is captured by UNISOC, which now has a whopping 100 percent of year-over-year growth during this quarter. In recent times, UNISOC has become quite famous among IoT device makers and they well receive its IoT modules.

Global Market:

The Global IoT module quarterly shipment reached 100 million shipments for the first time in Q2 2021. 5G is recorded fastest growing technology with over 800 percent of YoY, followed by 4G CAT 1 with over 100 YoY. However, NB-IoT grabbed close to a third of the market in terms of shipments.

Surprisingly, China alone contributed nearly 85% of the total NB-IoT module shipments in this quarter and continues to be the leading consumer for cellular IoT use and deployment.
