On November 18, Trump administration issued a new 90-day extension allowing U.S. firms to continue doing business with Huawei.

Back in May, the US Commerce Department added Huawei into the Entity-List and imposed trade restrictions that prohibit it from buying US technologies.

Then the company was then given a 90 days temporary license to serve its existing customers in telecom sectors and update for smartphones, which was expanded for another 90 days in August.

According to Reuters, when the earlier reprieve is set to expire, the Trump administration initially planned a short-term two-week reprieve, but later issue a new 90-day extension.

“The Temporary General License extension will allow carriers to continue to service customers in some of the most remote areas of the United States who would otherwise be left in the dark,” said U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross in a statement.

The US commerce secretary – Wilbur Ross previously said that the US department is working on licenses that are likely to allow Huawei to resume purchases technologies such as chips and software services from Google and Microsoft.
