According to the latest information, the Huawei ARM Server trademark for Taishan has been rejected by the China administration. Huawei’s trademark name seems to be similar to a trademark of a medical university named Taishan Medical College.

The court concluded that the disputed trademark and the cited trademark can create confusion among people. As the trademarks are defined to represent the service from a single provider, so it can’t be appropriate for other providers to use the same name.

Thus, the court does not support Huawei’s appeal to be continued with the same name. The result of the judgment of the “Administrative Procedure Law of the People’s Republic of China” rejects the appeal and maintains its previous judgment.

Previous Story:

In 2019, Huawei introduced three TaiShan ARM servers alongside the Kunpeng processor. But the name TaiShan is cited to be similar to a medical academy named “Taishan Medical College” in China.

Regarding this, Huawei lost the dispute over the trademark name in the Beijing court on the appeal of the National Intellectual Property Office.

The TaiShan ARM Servers:

The Huawei TaiShan ARM Servers are the next-generation data center server-based on the Huawei Kunpeng processor. It aims to meet the requirements of diversified efficient computing power, security, and openness.

Furthermore, the Kunpeng 920 processor adopted a multi-core computing architecture with superior computing powers. It mainly targets the server market and is designed using a 7mn technology with ARMv8 architecture of 64 2.6GHz cores.

Additionally, it supports 8-channel DDR4, PCIe 4.0 and CCIX interconnect chips, high-density models, big data models, distributed storage, and ARM native applications.
