Huawei and EDMI inked global IoT patent license agreement

Huawei and EDMI – the world’s leading smart meter solutions provider have signed a global patent licensing agreement. The inked document reads that the former will offer a cellular IoT standard-essential patent license, covering some vital subjects.

EDMI owned by Osaki Electric Industry Co., Ltd., is a Japanese firm that looks after metering solutions. The list includes software, associated and communication systems, metering devices, assets management, and many other facilities for users.

The company has now joined hands with Huawei via a fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory agreement. Under this agreement, Huawei will provide EDMI with a patent license for cellular IoT standards alongside NB-IoT, LTE-M, and LTA Cat.1 standard support.

It will shield EDMI’s business and will offer more legal protection to customers. Huawei has mastered vital patents for cellular IoT standards that can add more worth to smart meter solutions and make them far more proficient than ever.

Huawei’s Asia-Pacific Intellectual Property Department’s Director – Wang Bin shows gratitude towards licensees for supporting the company and its R&D activities. He adds that the company will remain committed to such pursuits in the future.

The CEO of EDMI Group – Roy Kirsopp said that this cooperation will result in a big achievement. Both parties will focus on better solutions that can serve consumers effectively and contribute to the welfare of the world.
