Breaking: Honor kicks off MagicOS 8.0 (Android 14) beta test

Honor today started the recruitment for MagicOS 8.0 internal beta, the software is based on Android’s latest version Android 14.

Initially, Honor has opened the beta testing program for only the Honor Magic 5 and Honor Magic 4 series. These two phone users are required to download MagicOS 7.1.0.183 and 7.0.0.171 respectively in order to participate in the beta program.

Honor selected only a few models for this new recruitment phase and there are more eligible phones announce later on. Talking about the details, the registration of the early beta program started today and will keep the signup open until December 14, 2023.

Both Honor Magic 5 and Magic 4 series smartphone users will get 3000 testing slots for each lineup. Interstingly, Huawei has not revealed the features of this new software system, and the company directly began recruiting users for the software testing.

It’s possible that the company is waiting to unveil this new software with the upcoming Honor Magic 6 series. However, we’ll have to wait for more confirmation on this matter.

Important Notes:

The beta adaption process is carried out in stages and may take some time to release for all of the beta participants. If you receive the OTA build version, make sure you have sufficient internal storage to keep the downloaded package.

This is a beta adopter version of Honor MagicOS 8.0 and participants will install the development phase version of this software. Subsequently, there could be bugs and issues that could appear during the beta testing process.

You can report bugs and issues to the developer experience feedback to support the development of MagicOS 8.0. Some of the apps are currently incompatible with Android 14 and may not work appropriately. These apps will be compatible during the testing duration.

After installing the MagicOS 8.0 early beta builds, your phone may cause heat, lags, and quick power consumption. These are general behaviors of in-testing software and will automatically go away with new improvements and patches.
