China Telecom has recently announced a new plan that offers 1-year free satellite service to selected Huawei, Honor, and more devices. The network operator is notifying users via message about its latest scheme as well as available benefits.

As reported by some netizens, the message by China Telecom reads “Experience satellite calls, free for a whole year!” It further states that the company has launched its free satellite service for some devices like Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, and more.

Under this plan, users will get 2 minutes of free satellite talk time per month. Note that the original cost for a satellite call by China Telecom is 9 yuan/month. But the company is offering a free plan with sufficient time to make calls in emergencies.

One can reply to the received message with a code to subscribe to the respective free satellite service for 12 months. Doing so will ask certain details and activate the plan.

The eligible phones for the satellite scheme are:

  • Huawei Pura 70 Ultra
  • Huawei Pura 70 Pro+
  • Huawei Mate 60 Pro
  • Honor Magic 6 Ultimate
  • Honor Magic 6 Pro
  • Xiaomi 14 Ultra
  • OPPO Find X7 Ultra
  • Vivo X100 Ultra

This free trial of satellite service will enable users to initiate a call or receive it when stuck in a low-network area, or with no cellular signal on the device.

Further inputs reveal that the company will automatically cancel the voice package once it expires. Although the direct satellite feature for texting and calling with a charge of 10 yuan/month requires a manual cancelation from the user end.

China Telecom brought the direct smartphone connection to satellite service in September last year. Users on the respective carrier with a SIM would directly activate the satellite feature and experience SMS or voice services without a cellular network.

Although this service has some charges. For instance, the overall pack counts 10 yuan/month. But users can also pick a package as per their preferences. These are:

  • Satellite voice package for 50 minutes = 200 yuan
  • Satellite voice package for 100 minutes = 300 yuan
  • Satellite voice package for 200 minutes = 500 yuan
