300 million devices installed HarmonyOS installation: MIIT

On September 20, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced that HarmonyOS operating system has been installed on over 300 million devices.

MIIT made the 300 million HarmonyOS devices announcement at a press conference on “Vitalizing the Development of the New Generation of Information Technology Industry”. The tech body supported hailed to support the development of operating sytem in the past years.

300 Million:

According to previous information, Huawei has already mentioned this achievement in past events (read here). However, the latest announcement shows the importance of this growth that Huawei is collecting with the help of Huawei consumers.

In July, Richard Yu, CEO of Consumer Business Group and Smart Car Business also confirmed that HarmonyOS has reached over 300 million device goals. A previous report reveals this figure consist of 200 million devices from Huawei itself and the rest of 100 million products from third-party electronics firms.

HarmonyOS:

Introduced in 2019, HarmonyOS is a cross device open source operating system designed and developed by Huawei. The open source code of this software is currently managed by the Open Atom foundation.

Furthermore, Huawei has made this OS so simple that it could run on devices as lowest as 128kb of memory size.

In 2020, the phone maker launched HarmonyOS 2 for smartphones and other platforms that bring you a number of new features that aren’t even available on iOS such as a large folder and a bunch of other advanced functionalities.

To be mentioned, the Chinese tech maker is currently testing HarmonyOS 3 on its smartphones and the Huawei Mate 50 series was the first to come with pre-installed. Although, Huawei has remained limited to the Chinese market.
