Xiaomi tops Apple, Huawei with 13 million new smartphone users in China

Xiaomi officially revealed that it had 13 million new smartphone users in China in 2024, while rivals like Apple and Huawei are surfing on 3 – 5 million. The company has surpassed its competitors in the Chinese phone market race.
Today, the OEM hosted Xiaomi Group 2025 Investor Day. The President of the Xiaomi smartphone department, Lu Weibing, gave a speech and mentioned that the firm made a net inflow of 13 million users in 2024 over Apple and Huawei.
Lu added that the company continued to improve its smartphone design, features, imaging capabilities, and more in recent years and entered the top two rankings in China. Meanwhile, it is also focusing deliberately on global markets.
Some netizens on Weibo further showcased the new user base of Xiaomi’s rivals in China. The list includes Apple, Huawei, OPPO, vivo, and Honor, with these figures:
- Apple: Net inflow of 2.49 million new users in 2024
- Huawei: Net inflow of 3.04 million new users in 2024
- OPPO: Net inflow of 3.61 million new users in 2024
- Vivo: Net inflow of 2.95 million new users in 2024
- Honor: Net inflow of 1.3 million new users in 2024

Lu Weibing further said:
“Xiaomi’s strategy is to deepen local operations, take steady steps and catch up with Samsung. Xiaomi’s subsequent goal is to enter the global annual sales 200 million club.”
Inputs further reveal that over 5.5 million users have switched from Apple and Huawei to Xiaomi last year. The company now aims for the “200 million user club,” which it may achieve in the upcoming years.
