Xiaomi to offer 6 years of HyperOS updates to mid-range Redmi device

Xiaomi is planning to offer around 6 years of HyperOS updates to one of its mid-range family members – Redmi device. A new input reveals the company will soon change its software update rollout policy for a Redmi phone. But, there is a catch.

According to XiaomiTime, Xiaomi is extending the HyperOS updates policy for a Redmi device by 6 years. This benefit has been confined to the Xiaomi phones so far.

The company has been providing Redmi device owners with one or two major upgrades and two/three years of security rollouts. Meanwhile, the flagship Xiaomi series enjoys a three-year major upgrade and four years of security patches policy.

But again, the tech giant doesn’t follow a firm commitment in this matter. For instance, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra will receive four years of major OS updates and five years of patches. Looks like the OEM is making its software policy more useful for Redmi users.

Inputs reveal the Redmi Note 14 4G model will fetch up to 6 years of HyperOS updates. It will have the same level of software support as the Xiaomi 15 Ultra flagship.

Redmi Note 14 phones will get four major Android updates and two extra years of security patches. Simply put, the device will receive patches until March 2031.
