Xiaomi rolls out Android 16 Beta 2-based HyperOS developer preview

Xiaomi is rolling out Android 16 Beta 2-based HyperOS developer preview for its flagship devices. The company has initiated this new software activity in China. Though it will soon open this testing phase for its eligible global device owners.
The Chinese tech giant confirmed the new activity via its official Weibo page. Xiaomi wrote that it has kicked off the HyperOS developer preview based on Android 16 Beta 2.
Currently, the developer preview is open for the Xiaomi 15 and Redmi K70 Extreme Edition. Developers can use these devices to try out the new version and build apps accordingly. Meanwhile, users can wait for subsequent updates coming soon.
Note that this developer preview is a testing version and only available for developers to test it. Although the company may soon kick new testing versions for ordinary consumers in the form of closed and public beta programs.

The current developer preview is likely based on the HyperOS 2. Though the company may soon release the HyperOS 3.0 version for its devices. Some of the significant features of the Android 16 Beta 2 that can show up in this DP build are:
- Enhanced privacy and security features
- Improved app permissions for better security
- Major UI changes and smoother animations
- New AI capabilities across the software system
- Enhanced multi-tab handling
Inputs reveal that Xiaomi has also readied an Android 16 beta build for the Pad 7 Pro device. Although the update may launch some time later. By that time, interested developers can visit the Xiaomi community to check the upgrade method.
