Xiaomi finally to intro 100W phone charger, Huawei launched it years back
Xiaomi is finally adding its first 100W charger to its smartphone family. The company has launched many power adapters to date. But this is going to be the OEM’s first charging accessory with 100W power capacity. Let’s learn more about it.
Up to this point, Xiaomi has introduced chargers with 60W or 90W grade. It even launched the Redmi K80 Ultra with a 120W adapter, supporting 100W superfast charging. But this would be the first time that the company is set to launch a 100W adapter.
Xiaomi has certified its first 100W smartphone charger recently on the 3C database. The company has listed the power adapter with the MDY-18-EW model number.
Inputs reveal that the 100W charger supports a voltage input of 100-240V. The accessory is also compatible with several output profiles, like a 100W (5-20V, 3-5A).
Speaking of the design, the 3C listing doesn’t reveal the appearance. Though some details hint that the adapter has a versatile yet powerful design with enhanced power delivery, offering the best broad device compatibility.
Perhaps the company will ship this new charger with the Xiaomi 16 series or the Redmi K90 lineup later this year. It may also debut with some more flagship handsets.

Huawei’s first 100W charger in 2021!
While Xiaomi has taken a long time to debut its first 100W charger, Huawei launched it years ago. Nova 9 Pro was the first phone in the Huawei family to feature a 100W super-fast adapter that claims to recharge a 4000mAh battery in just 20 minutes.
It supports a dynamic charging of 20V/5A and is compatible with 11V/6A or 10V/4A. The company says it is faster than any other charger in 2021.
