Xiaomi Xring chip

Xiaomi is allegedly planning to change the “chips” rules for its phones and cars. News regarding the company suggests that it will use the same self-developed XRING O2 processors for all products, including handsets, wearables, and even automobiles.

But, there is a catch!

Weibo tipster @DigitalChatStation noted that Xiaomi could use XRING O2 chips for its phones, wearables, and cars. The company aims to customize a single chip for all products, reducing the cost of production and simplifying software integration.

Although this is unlikely to happen this year. Xiaomi will initially verify the cross-end multi-platform and vehicle-track-level chips, which will take a longer time.

These things further depend on the chipset iteration and the company’s upgrading strategies. But we can expect to see the same chips in all Xiaomi products.

The tipster noted that implementing XRING O2 chips in cars by the end of this year is not possible. It will take time to execute this plan properly to ensure better performance and a seamless experience for users without any interruptions.

XRING O2 is in rumors to build upon 3nm process technology by TSMC. Currently, the Chinese phone maker is unable to access 2nm nodes due to the US export controls.

It is worth mentioning that Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed any of this news so far. After XRING 01, the company seemingly began its work on the next-gen processor. Hence, the details on this chip will be clear soon. Stay tuned.
