Recently, a chip market research firm, IC Insights has published a report that revealed that the worldwide chip market is reached 155.2 billion US dollars in 2021. The report shows an annual increase of 22%, which is 28.5 billion USD more than the previously recorded 126.7 billion USD.

The market report is based on the sales of various chips used in different electronic hardware devices in different markets. The research focuses on the following chips:

  • DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory) chips
  • NAND flash memory
  • EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory) chips

Over the past few years, data centers, servers, notebooks, laptops, tablets, and smartphones are high in demand thus results in the rapid increase in the sale as well as the price of memory chips.

Talking about the individual sales of the chips DRAM accounted for 19.2 billion USD, which is increased by approximately 8% for the first quarter of 2021. However, DRAM chips acquire 56% of the total market share with 43% of total shipment volume, which is more than half.

On the other hand, the flash memory chip market including NAND and NOR accounted for 43% of the total market share with 39% of total shipment volume. Meanwhile, the rest gained 1% of the total market share with 18% of total shipment volume, which includes the EEP-ROM, EP-ROM, ROM, and other memory chips.

Besides, the report also predicts the future scope of the memory chip market on the basis of the performance and expected that it will reach 200 billion USD by 2023 and grow more in the future.
