WhatsApp Feature

WhatsApp is working on a new capability that can simplify the management of chat notifications on the home screen. In case you are a person who likes a clutter-free home screen on their smartphone rather than one full of app alert counts.

The company continues to release more personalized features for users. We have seen many upgrades for status updates. Now it’s time for the chat notifications.

Spotted in the Android beta 2.25.4.20 version, WhatsApp is preparing a new and useful feature that will help users with chat notifications for the home screen.

Users will eventually get more control over how to manage their notification counts on the home screen, for WhatsApp at least. The current feature auto-disappears the app’s notification counts as soon as the user opens the chat application.

But the new addition will keep the notifications count visible unless the user views them manually. The feature is termed “Show count until viewed” and says:

“Show total unseen messages and calls on the WhatsApp icon until you view them.”

The feature will have a toggle that will enable users to clear the home screen notifications count every time they open the chat application. Once done, the count will be set to zero despite whether any messages have been read or not.
