WhatsApp is developing a centralized chat media hub for the web version. The new feature will enable users to store the shared images, videos, GIFs, documents, and links across every conversation in this section to simplify accessibility.

In the past few months, WhatsApp has put in many efforts to ease media management in the app. Now the firm is bringing one such attempt for the web version.

According to the WEBetaInfo, WhatsApp is preparing a chat media hub for web users. A similar feature has rolled out for community members, where they can easily browse their shared images, files, and other media across their group chats.

The significant addition will act as a dedicated section in the sidebar of the WhatsApp web version. Hence, users can easily find and open their shared images, files, documents, or links at any time, after entering the hub.

Chat Media Hub eliminates the need to open each chat while finding an image or link. The section will be divided into three parts: Media (photos or videos), documents, and links.

The feature will display additional details for the document and links, like the name of the contact who shared them, date, and other related information. It will further support caption-based search and sorting options for easier media management.

Sorting options include: oldest first, most recent, and largest file first. One can also opt for the multi-select option for deleting, downloading, or even forwarding.
