WhatsApp may soon let you open view once media on linked devices

WhatsApp ensures that users’ privacy remains at its peak. The company looks for new additions that can uplift the privacy bar. Now WhatsApp is testing a feature that will enable users to open the “view once media” option on other linked devices.
Spotted in the WhatsApp Android beta 2.25.3.7 version, the company is now expanding the “view once media” capability to linked devices. The feature is currently available to limited testers via the Google Play Beta Program.
View Once Media is a special feature in WhatsApp that allows photos, videos, as well as voice messages to disappear from the chat after being opened. In simple words, the recipient won’t be able to save the media after viewing it for once.
The feature adds an extra layer of security especially when you are sharing sensitive content with others. As a result, the recipient can’t copy, share, or even forward them. One won’t be able to take a screenshot or record the screen of that media.

Now the company is bringing this feature access to linked devices. Earlier, it was impossible to view or send such media on linked devices. The company took this step last year but with certain limitations. It is believed that users may use the primary device to open the media while the secondary one to capture it.
However, WhatsApp is now allowing users to open the view once media on their linked devices. It is convenient for those who work on multiple devices throughout the day. The feature is still in the testing lane but may get official soon.
