WhatsApp never misses a chance to surprise its users with interactive changes to the app and one such enhancement is on the way: send messages from status updates. Yes, the company will soon allow its users to text their contacts directly from their status updates, after viewing the media.

Spotted in the WhatsApp Android Beta 2.25.9.6 version, the company is preparing a feature that will let you send messages from status updates to your contacts. All you have to do is click on the message icon at the bottom of your status updates.

Earlier, users had to leave the status update screen if they wanted to text a person who have viewed their status. It becomes a lengthy process when you have not talked to that person for a long while, as now you have to search for them in the chat list.

But looks like WhatsApp has solved this problem with the latest shortcut feature in the viewer’s list of the status updates. It enables you to open a chat instantly with the person who viewed your status. Just tap on the message icon and you will land on the chat window.

The feature aims to ease the interaction between users and those who have viewed their status. The feature is in the beta phase and rolling out to limited beta testers via the Google Play Beta Program. But it may soon go official via a stable update.
