Vivo X Fold 5 and Huawei Mate X6 comparison

Vivo X Fold 5 launched on June 25 with a dynamic camera setup to rival flagship foldable phones, including Huawei Mate X6. The new Vivo folding handset arrives on the ground with exciting imaging features, but does it beat its opponents?

Let’s find out!

Vivo X Fold 5

X Fold 5 features a triple camera system including a 50MP main shooter (Sony IMX921, 1/1.56) with PDAF + OIS, a 50MP ultrawide-angle with PDAF, and a 50MP super telephoto (Sony IMX882, 1/1.95) with 3x zoom.

Vivo executives say that the device has a far better telephoto sensor this time, compared to its predecessor. It also supports telephoto macro mode with ultra-clear 20x zoom level. Its PD focus pixel density is increased by 32 times.

The device has three telephoto modes:

  • Telephoto Macro: Professional-grade macro photography where every detail is visible.
  • Telephoto Night: Professionally tuned and offers stunning dark shots.
  • Telephoto Scenery: Ultra-clear zoom brings the beautiful scenery in the distance into your sight.

Meanwhile, the main camera integrates the VCS Bionic Spectrum 2.0 tech. It aims to enhance the image quality by increasing the color accuracy and reducing noise.

The front side of the X Fold 5 has a 20MP camera on each display (cover and foldable screen).

Vivo has mainly focused on improving the main and periscope cameras of its new foldable. Overall, the device seems to have better camera upgrades than before.

Huawei Mate X6

On the other hand, we have the Huawei Mate X6, which is capable enough to challenge the Vivo X Fold 5. First of all, Huawei breaks the dual and triple camera tradition for its book-type foldable with a quad-camera system.

Mate X6 has four powerful cameras, including a 50MP primary snapper, a 40MP ultrawide-angle, a 48MP telephoto, and a 1.5MP multi-spectral lens for color accuracy.

While the parameters are slightly less than the Vivo X Fold 5, the functions are one step ahead. Mate X6 telephoto supports 4x optical zoom with RYYB capability.

The 48MP telephoto camera has macro functions and smart multi-frame fusion that expands the depth of the field while keeping the subject clear and offering more details.

Besides, the 1.5MP spectral camera remains the highlight of the device. It enhanced the color performance of all camera images and cooperates with XD Fusion Engine to adjust the image color accuracy, bringing more natural pictures.

Perhaps both phones are showing impressive upgrades over the previous-gen models. But whether they are capable of defeating each other would be known after the real-time camera performance among consumers.
