Huawei chip war with foreign authorities continues as the US Court has now rejected the company’s request to dismiss criminal charges against it. The Lord Justice announced his decision on Tuesday, saying that the firm must face these allegations.

US and Huawei “tech-stealing” case has been in courts since 2018. Meng Wanzhou, the CFO of Huawei, was even detained in this case in Canada for three years before being allowed to return to China.

Details reveal that the U.S. district court judge, Ann Donnelly, in Brooklyn, said that Huawei has been involved illegally in expanding its brand and business worldwide.

The court further accused the company of stealing trade secrets from six firms and committing bank fraud. US court readied a 52-page decision and found sufficient allegations in the 16-count indictment for the Chinese tech manufacturer.

Misleading Iranian banks

As per previous reports, Huawei has been accused of misleading various banks about its business in Iran. The company took the help of Skycom, a Hong Kong firm that did business in that country.

The mislead eventually helped the firm to continue transactions that the US blocked due to export controls. Donnelly noted that Skycom might have been Huawei’s subsidiary:

“Skyycom operated as Huawei’s Iranian subsidiary and ultimately stood to benefit, in a roundabout way.”

Donnelly also said that Huawei has made more than $100 million in money transfers through the US financial system, using its high-end devices with 5G processors.

It’s bad news for the tech giant amid the growing US-China tech tensions. The company pleaded not guilty and even sought to abandon 13 of 16 counts, calling itself “a prosecutorial target in search of a crime”.

The US Court has further pushed the hearing to May 04, 2026, and could further last for several months. What the court’s decision at that time would be worth seeing.
