Samsung teased Huawei Mate XT-inspired Z-shaped triple foldable
Samsung has finally teased its first triple foldable phone in a Z-shaped look. The company showcased the device at the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event. It has also launched the flagship Galaxy S25 series, One UI 7.0 stable update, and more.
After Huawei, Samsung has been in the rumors to be the first runner-up in the tri-fold race. Leak predicted that the South Korean firm could launch its first tri-folding phone later this year but with a new design and effective hardware upgrades.
Now Samsung has shared a slight glimpse of its first triple foldable device in a Z-shaped design. The company showed concepts for two tri-folds. The first one is related to a device with an inward + outward folding mechanism and a Z-type format.
The interesting fact about this tri-foldable is its look. It is similar to the champion Huawei Mate XT. Looks like Samsung is trying to follow its rival to some extent.
Mate XT comes with a Z-type design. This form factor ensures a convenient and easier folding of the device with an inward + outward folding mechanism. Due to dual-hinge technology, the tri-fold offers a more durable opening and closing than any other folding handset. It further provides a thinner design than many regular phones.
Based on the latest official concept, Samsung seems inspired by Huawei for its first tri-fold. It would be worth seeing what changes this device will bring over the winning tri-fold: Huawei Mate XT, in the time ahead.

One more tri-fold?
Inputs reveal that Samsung unveiled two versions of a tri-fold prototype. While the first one is a Z-type, the second one hints at a G-shaped design where the left and right sides fold and overlap on the center display. This would be the same as mentioned in earlier leaks.
Both tri-folds could measure 10 inches when unfolded. Although these phones may only be available in around 200,000 units. The company may initiate the mass production of its first tri-fold in the second quarter of this year.
