Samsung started digging into Android 16 ahead of One UI 7 stable release

Samsung is being a bit hasty with its software as it already started working on Android 16 (One UI 8). Many Galaxy phone users are waiting to taste the One UI 7.0 beta flavor. But looks like the company is busy giving a try to Android 16 version.
Android 16 is expected to land on the ground earlier than ever. Google has announced to release of the new OS version in the second or third quarter of this year.
Following this pace, Samsung has also jumped in the preparation of One UI 8 (Android 16). The company has reportedly begun testing the Android 16 internally ahead of the One UI 7 Beta pack-up. A few clues have emerged, revealing the details.
Some One UI 7-based applications showed strings related to One UI 8. The details further implied that the Android 16-based upgrade will support a decal shader for the launcher. This add-on will eventually enhance app icons and animations.
In simple words, the user interface will become more beautiful than ever. What else is coming with the Android 16-based One UI 8 is still a mystery to resolve.

SmartPrix also mentioned that the Decal Shader can adapt the texture of wallpapers to icons and exhibit makeovers to third-party application icons as well.
One UI 8 Launch?
The timeline for Samsung’s Android 16 skin is uncertain. Although we can expect the official rollout in October or November this year. The company will likely start rolling out the upgrade to selected devices and then expand the distribution.
Currently, the company is busy with the One UI 7 beta rollout. The stable version will debut with the Galaxy S25 flagship. However, the excitement for One UI 8 has already started building up among Galaxy smartphone users.
