Samsung speeds up tri-fold making to rival Huawei in new foldable trend

Samsung is trying to speed up its first tri-fold development to compete with Huawei Mate XT in the innovative foldable battle. But seems the company is struggling to do so. It may take more than expected time to unveil its first “triple foldable” phone.
An early report suggested that Samsung is making efforts to escape from the Huawei Mate XT global launch pressure. The firm is said to be unveiling its ultimate G-type folding phone in July this year alongside the regular Z foldable family.
The South Korean tech giant has already lost the global foldable crown to its Chinese competitor, Huawei, in Q4 2024. Hence, it is taking every possible step to win back the winner tag and lead the trendy folding phone market worldwide.
However, that doesn’t seem an easy task!
An X tipster @MaxJambor says that the Samsung tri-fold will take some more time in the making. The device will likely launch this year, but not in July, at least.

If not a grand launch, then Samsung may tease the foldable just like it did at the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event. The company showcased two tri-foldable phones at the S25 series launch conference, implying their launch for the first half of this year.
Looks like the timeline may shift from July to a later point of this year. The company probably aims to offer the “best” triple foldable phone, if not the world’s “first”.
Samsung and Huawei are the top tech makers when it comes to the foldable world. Both firms have been pacing in the tri-fold race since 2023. But the Chinese OEM took the lead by launching the world’s first tri-folding phone in September 2024.
It even achieved the sash of the first global triple foldable phone. Huawei success in the global foldable market is challenging Samsung to soon drop its first tri-fold handset on the ground. The situation will soon take a better shape in the future.
