Rumor suggests Huawei Pocket 3 foldable to use Kirin 9020s chip
Huawei Pocket 3 vertical foldable may launch with a Kirin 9020s chip. The company is allegedly testing a new Kirin chip derivative for the upcoming folding phone, which could be similar to the one found in the Mate 70 Pro Premium Edition.
Early leaks suggested that Pocket 3 will use the Kirin 9020 chipset. However, the latest rumor indicates a new 9020 derivative for the approaching foldable handset.
SmartPikachu says that Huawei could use a Kirin 9020s chip for the Pocket 3 folding phone. The chip may have slightly downclocked performance cores over 9020 5G.
A similar processor is present in the newly launched Mate 70 Pro Premium Edition. The company hasn’t revealed the chipset’s name yet. Although the Geekbench listing of the phone shows CPU configuration with a downgraded large core.
- Kirin 9020: 1 large core @ 2.50GHz + 3 medium cores @ 2.15GHz + 4 small cores @ 1.60GHz
- Kirin 9020 downclocked version: 1 large core @ 2.40GHz + 3 medium cores @ 2.00GHz + 4 small cores @ 1.60GHz
When asked about the difference between the original and new Mate 70 Pro version, the company said that the Premium Edition offers 35% improved performance over Mate 60 Pro. (Mate 70 Pro provides 40% improved performance).

It is unclear if the Huawei Pocket 3 processor will be the same as the Mate 70 Pro Premium Edition. Though it is likely to be a downclocked version of the Kirin 9020 5G.
Pocket 3: Early Revelations
Many netizens on Weibo speculated that Huawei Pocket 3 will appear like an iPad Mini with a foldable twist. The device is said to sport a 6.3-inch inner display with a 3.5-inch bigger square cover screen. It may give a mini tablet feel to consumers.
The Chinese phone maker may further adjust the power button and volume rockers in the upcoming clamshell product and equip 5.5G network tech. It may feature dynamic changes in terms of appearance. Other revelations may arrive in the future.
