Qiankun self-driving solutions are safer than Tesla FSD, said Huawei

Huawei Qiankun self-driving solutions are better and safer than Tesla FSD, said one of the company’s executives. The US smart driving technology is trying to gain ground in China. But Huawei is responding strongly via an intense competition.
Li Wenguang, the President of Huawei Self-Driving Solutions Product Line recently said that Tesla FSD can perform well at this stage, but Qiankun is still one step ahead.
According to Li, Tesla FSD is an industry-standard when it comes to vehicle control and road focus. But it is questionable whether it will be able to compete with other Chinese smart car solution brands in terms of safety and reliability in the future.
The executive said that just like Tesla, Huawei is also working on vehicle control and road perception. He believes that even though Tesla’s pure vision can offer a good experience to drivers, it still needs to work in terms of user safety.
On the other hand, the need for reliability and safety in autonomous driving will continue to rise. Hence, a Huawei executive doubts whether Tesla’s pure vision route can continue to march forward in this race with advanced and tech-packed solutions.
For Huawei, Li Wenguang said:
“Huawei insists on the multi-sensor fusion route, and its core goal is to reduce accidents and free up time.”
The company earlier used the L2 level technology for its self-driving tech. However, it has now switched to multi-sensor fusion for higher levels of assisted driving.
Li further mentioned that Huawei has made significant progress in the active safety of its self-driving solutions. Qiankun ADS can easily overcome obstacles and negative height braking. Meanwhile, the company is making efforts to make ADS respond to trees and guardrails in the future, to efficiently avoid accidents.
