Huawei Pura 70 series and the mid-range Nova 13 lineup significantly contributed to the company’s smartphone sales in Q4 2024. While the Mate 70 series remained the show’s star, early handsets helped the OEM achieve new heights in the market.

Counterpoint has released the quarterly smartphone market report for China. It details the growth of the Chinese phone sector in all quarters, including Q3 and Q4 2023.

In particular, the latest report highlights that Huawei smartphone sales hiked in Q4 2024 – thanks to the Pura 70 and Nova 13 series. The former has been in the attention circle for its unique design, powerful camera system, and AI capabilities.

Meanwhile, the latter became a focal point in the mid-range market for its new appearance and camera features. The Mate 60 series is also counted as a major contributor to boosting Huawei’s smartphone sales in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Huawei scored 17% (16.7%) of the market share in the Chinese smartphone shipment ranking. The company closely follows Apple (16.8%) at third spot. Vivo ranked first in the listing,g with 18% of the market share driven by the Y series smartphones.

The report also reveals the first six rankers for every quarter. Interestingly, Huawei remained in the top three ranking in every quarter. It obtained the first spot in the second quarter of 2024 following the strong sales of Mate 60 and Nova 12 phones.

The company has launched several smartphones last year. The list includes Pura 70 models, Enjoy 70 variants, Nova 13/Pro, and the most-awaited Mate 70 series.

As of now, it is preparing for the Pura 80 series with high-end technologies and specifications. The new lineup will likely boost the company’s sales to more extent.

Other rankers in the list include Xiaomi at the fourth position with a market share of 16% due to the top-end Xiaomi 15 series. Honor is in fifth place with a 14% market share.

The overall Chinese smartphone sales have jumped to 5% year-on-year and 9% quarter-on-quarter in Q4 2024. Counterpoint noted that the nationwide smartphone subsidy program announced in January could catalyze boosting sales, especially during Q1 2025.
