At the Dainhong IoT operating system launch press conference, Huawei, China Southern Power Grid and Open Atom Foundation launched the first Chinese electric power IoT operating system based on HarmonyOS.

HarmonyOS Power features a system with different types of brands of power and electric equipment, allowing plug-and-play and major data linkage. This provides a set of power systems for the access, operation, and maintenance of large-scale IoT equipment in new power systems in the future.

China Southern Power Grid Corporation stated that the Power HarmonyOS can be used in all aspects of power production such as “generation, transmission, transformation, distribution, and consumption.”

For example, behind the integration of new energy into the power grid is massive data analysis and processing, and power equipment terminal monitoring and collection After collecting the data. The data interacts on the network through a unified communication protocol, which can improve data processing capabilities and maintain the dynamic balance of electricity consumption and power generation.

The promotion and use of HarmonyOS for the electric power industry will reduce the burden on grassroots operation and maintenance personnel. Taking equipment system upgrades as an example, with the help of the dimensional and measurable capabilities of Power HarmonyOS operators can directly and remotely upgrade equipment in batches through the management and control platform. The average upgrade time of 3 Hours is reduced to 20 minutes, while the efficiency and safety are also improved.

The event is attended by 100 partners from the industry including mainstream chip suppliers and equipment makers. It’s expected that the industry supply chain will expand to over 900 sub-categories of equipment by the end of 2024.

These will also generate 1.35 million IoT terminals that are fully ready for transmission, transformation, and distribution field. Meanwhile, the scale of the terminals will exceed 100 million by the end of 2025.
