New HarmonyOS 5.0 closed beta program begins for Huawei wearables

Huawei has started a new HarmonyOS 5.0 closed beta program for its few wearables. The company is calling out some flagship smartwatch users to participate in the latest software testing and explore a set of new features in advance.
According to official details on the Huawei Community, the Chinese tech giant has launched a new HarmonyOS 5.0 beta recruitment for selected wearables.
Currently, the company has opened the latest beta activity for the Watch GT 5 series and the Watch D2. Interested users can register in the beta pool right away.
The information reveals that there are a total of 2000 seats, 500 for the log version and 1500 for the no-log version. The respective smartwatch users must have a baseline version of HarmonyOS 5.0.0.159 or above build to receive the beta upgrade.

- Watch GT 5 41mm (JNA-B19) – HarmonyOS 5.0.0159
- Watch GT 5 46mm (VLB-B19) – HarmonyOS 5.0.0166
- Watch GT 5 Pro 42mm (JNA-B29) – HarmonyOS 5.0.0171
- Watch GT 5 Pro 46mm (VLI-B19) – HarmonyOS 5.0.0159
- Watch D2 (LCA-B19) – HarmonyOS 5.0.0159
Inputs reveal that Huawei is making appropriate adjustments in the watch software system to deliver a seamless and better user experience. As mentioned, the seats are limited, and users need to wait for a public beta or an official version.

Watch GT 5 and D2 users can use either a HarmonyOS 5.0 or 4.2 version-powered device to enroll in the latest beta update. The procedure is as follows:
- HarmonyOS 5.0 phones/tablets: Open the My Huawei app and select the WeChat Mini Program. Click on the beta banner under the software activities on the home page and fill in the registration process.
- HarmonyOS 4.0 phones/tablets: Open the My Huawei app and select Upgrade to try out the option on the home page. Click on the beta banner and fill out the registration details.
Users getting a “passed the review” email will receive the new beta build, while others have to wait for the final version. Make sure to use a stable Wi-Fi connection to install the new HarmonyOS 5.0 beta update on your wearable.
