It’s not Mate 60 but Mate X5 that generated most profit in 2024: Huawei
Huawei Mate 60 series is one of the most popular lineups but when it comes to profit, it’s Mate X5 that has contributed to a great extent in 2024. That says the senior executive of the company, revealing a few details on this year’s profit scale.
Peng Bo – Huawei Director and President of the Global Procurement Qualification Management Department recently had a few minutes talk with new employees of the company. He answered many questions regarding the company’s growth.
During the interrogation, an employee asked if the Mate XT tri-fold surpassed the success of the Mate 60. In response, Peng Bo said that everyone saw Mate 60 as a ‘show stealer’. But it’s the Mate X5 that has generated the most profit for the firm.
The executive further revealed that the Mate XT tri-fold entry in the market shows that Huawei is still at the top in the foldable race and offers the best product.
Although one can not give all the success credit to Mate XT as tri-fold yield is always difficult to make. It’s of course a hit but can’t be expected to achieve big shipments.
“Last year, everyone called the Mate 60, a proud phone, but it was not this phone that generated the most profit, but our X5 and X3. The tri-fold proves Huawei’s leading position in the folding field. I think this will be a hit (tri-fold), but a hit does not necessarily mean that it will sell 10 million units, because the market demand is limited.”
Hence, the Huawei Mate X5 and X3 foldable has generated the most profit in 2024 compared to the Mate 60 series. Peng Bo has shared these details on one of the company’s communities in a long article to help new employees.
Operator Business
Apart from this, the question reads that the company’s operator business has slightly declined compared to the consumer business in the past two years. How Huawei will achieve a double-digit growth rate in such a scenario?
Peng replied that a major reason behind the growth of consumer business is the enthusiasm among people for the brand. The company still has room for improvement. But the good thing is that Kirin chips and HarmonyOS are now stronger than before.
Regarding the operator business, Peng says:
“… the operator business requires extremely comprehensive qualities of the people. I encourage employees to work hard in the operator sector for 5-7 years before considering the next stage of development in the field they’re most interested in.”
