iPhone 17 Pro Max may get bigger battery, but not as big as Huawei Pura 80
Apple is planning a major battery upgrade for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The tech giant may reach the 5000mAh capacity this time, boosting the overall energy optimization. But does it match the battery levels of other flagships in the market?
Weibo tipster @InstantDigital said the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max will pack a 5000mAh battery, approximately 324mAh bigger than the previous-gen iPhone models.
For comparison, the tipster shared a list showing the battery life of the past six generations of iPhone Pro Max handsets. Take a detailed look at this difference below:
- iPhone 11 Pro Max: 3969mAh
- iPhone 12 Pro Max: 3687mAh
- iPhone 13 Pro Max: 4352mAh
- iPhone 14 Pro Max: 4323mAh
- iPhone 15 Pro Max: 4422mAh
- iPhone 16 Pro Max: 4676mAh
While many flagship phones like Huawei Pura 80 and Xiaomi 15 Ultra offer 5500+mAh batteries, Apple is making efforts to reach the mark of 5000mAh capacity.
Huawei Pura 80 features a 5600mAh battery, and its high-end siblings pack 5700mAh capacity. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra smartphone owns a 5410mAh battery.
On the other hand, iPhone users often report battery issues despite various enhancements. Even some tech sources mentioned that the increase in Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max’s battery capacity doesn’t promise an improved battery life.
iPhone 17 Pro Max battery life and the increase in time of device’s use will depend on many other factors, including the Apple iOS 26 battery optimizations.
Hence, it would be too early to make conclusions about the battery strength of the new-gen iPhone Pro Max. Although the good news will be that Apple has finally adopted a bigger battery upgrade for its flagship iPhone models, to improve their efficiency.
