HyperOS 2.1 beta brings new gesture bar to enhance display experience

HyperOS 2.1 beta is bringing a new gesture bar that can improve the display experience for Xiaomi phone users. The update is rolling out gradually for the Xiaomi 15 devices. It may soon reach more eligible handsets in the coming weeks.
The Chinese tech maker has seeded the new software upgrade with several useful features. But the latest addition aims to enhance the display effects for users.
Spotted by XiaomiTime, the new HyperOS 2.1 beta for Xiaomi 15 users offers a semi-transparent gesture bar. While such a UI element is already present in Xiaomi phones, the latest beta update revamps it and makes it even more recognizable.
In early software versions, the gesture bar at the bottom of the screen had a black or white background (based on the wallpaper). Being visible on the screen, it often appeared as a hindrance when watching videos on full-screen or playing games.
Although the company has now introduced a semi-transparent gesture bar, providing a better display experience. It eliminates the visual obstacles from the bottom of the screen and modifies the overall screen size without any physical amendments.
Thus, users can enjoy the following scenarios:
- Watching full-screen videos: The screen won’t look like it’s being cut from the bottom by a bold bar.
- Gaming: Users can enjoy a bigger screen space and achieve a richer experience.
- Multitasking and web-surfing: Gives a more streamlined aesthetics.
HyperOS 2.1 is currently in the beta phase for Chinese and global users. As a result, the new gesture bar is still in the testing phase. However, it may go official with the stable 2.1 upgrade later this month or in April.
