Counterpoint has shared a new report on the top 5 worldwide smartphone brands, saying that Huawei Kirin chips are helping it rise globally. The latest data analysis also highlights phone shipments in 2025 for the first 5 tech vendors.
According to Counterpoint, Huawei is gaining more ground in the global smartphone market following smoother supply chains and “sustained momentum from its self-developed chips”.
The research market firm has further predicted the shipment growth rates for the top five global smartphone brands, where Huawei is expected to rise globally by 11% YoY due to its powerful Kirin chips and innovative handset designs.
One of the Associate Directors at Counterpoint, Ethan Qi, said:
“Is 2025 the breakout year for Huawei globally? It might be a big soon for that, but increasing supply chain strength will definitely help the brand establish a better foothold overseas in the medium term.”

The report adds that the sourcing constraints for delivering key parts and tech components to Huawei are expected to ease in the current year to some extent. As a result, the company can boost its growth in the mid-to-low phone segments.
In recent times, Huawei has made significant improvements in the Kirin chip segment. The company not only fixed performance issues but also ramped up the chipset efficiency for its mid-range and flagship handsets.
Apart from Huawei, brands like Motorola, Xiaomi, realme, and Apple are also on the list. Motorola and Xiaomi are expected to grow by 4% YoY in terms of smartphone shipments this year. Apple and realme could see a growth of 3% YoY.
