Huawei is the top-class player in promoting 5.5G AKA 5G advanced technologies and it’s speculated that the company could launch a new 5.5G phone by next year. Meanwhile, we got some industry insights to clarify the current situation.

People related to the 5.5G technology said that 5.5G smartphones will not arrive in the first half of 2024. However, flagship phone makers can achieve a new advanced network speed of 5.5G standard by the end of this year at 5GBps download and 5000Mbps upload speed.

So, it’s clear that we won’t see a 5.5G Huawei phone in the nearest time but it’s certain that Huawei could be optimizing the phone’s network speed for the farthest in the upcoming devices.

Huawei knows the challenge of launching 5G enabled phone after losing this network capability in 2020. Since then the company only unveiled 4G phones, even its flagship devices are 4G only. With Huawei Mate 60 and Mate X3, Huawei broke this limitation by bringing back the 5G ready solutions.

5.5G:

In simple terms, 5.5G is a next-generation upgrade of the 5G network. According to Huawei, 5.5G could deliver 10 times the network speed than the current gen 5G network. This means the network speed could reach upto 10Gbps and upload speed up to 1Gbps.

Huawei is currently participating in the 14th annual Global Mobile Broadband Forum (GMBF) conference.

“We are already on the right path towards 5G business success, and 5G-Advanced is the natural next step in 5G’s evolution,” said Li Peng, Corporate Senior Vice President, President of the Carrier BG, Huawei.

Li also shared that 5.5G will bring deterministic networking, support for a hundred billion IoT connections, integrated sensing and communication, and native AI capabilities. With the changing surface of network technology, Huawei is placing immense focus on advanced 5G connectivity with its latest gears.

In that regard, Huawei’s Rotating Chairman Ken Hu “Technology is changing so fast, and new demands are evolving every day. So our networks need to keep evolving too. Our industry as a whole needs to get ready for the future and maximize the value of investments in 5G – and that’s why we’re working so hard on 5G-Advanced.”
